FLAGCHIP’s innovations highlighted at Enlit Europe!
ENLIT Europe 2025, which took place in Bilbao from 18–20 November was a major event for the energy transition, gathering over 15,000 participants, 700 exhibitors, and 500 speakers. The main themes revolved around digitalization, decarbonization, decentralization, and grid resilience. Both FOR²ENSiCS and FLAGCHIP were showcased in the EU Projects Zone, alongside more than 100 Horizon-funded initiatives.
Our partner SuperGrid Institute was present along with the project FOR²ENSiCS. SuperGrid Institute presented their work through FOR²ENSiCS on SiC-based ultra-high voltage DC/DC converters for LV–MV applications positioned as a critical enabler for electrification and decarbonization strategies in Europe and allowing for :
-
-
High efficiency and cost reduction for DC grids.
-
Reliability studies for long-term performance.
-
Contribution to renewable integration and EV infrastructure.
-
FLAGCHIP, being the follow-up project of FOR²ENSiCS, showcased innovations in advanced semiconductor packaging and chip integration for power electronics and its Condition and Health Monitoring . It focused on:
-
-
High thermal performance and miniaturization for next-gen converters.
-
Supporting wide-bandgap technologies (SiC/GaN) for energy efficiency
-
Sensor integration for thermal monitoring of semiconductor chips
-
PCB design for signal acquisition and conditioning for Remaining Useful Time estimation of Power Modules
-
The reinforced synergy of FLAGCHIP with FOR²ENSiCS working towards the development of robust, compact, and reliable converter designs provided an excellent visibility for both projects, while it also allowed the engagement in discussions on DC technologies, AI for energy, and smart grids. Such discussions confirm the importance of semiconductor and converter innovation in Europe’s energy transition roadmap.
