New Synergy: FLAGCHIP × DC-POWER

 

We’re excited to announce a new collaboration between our EU-funded project FLAGCHIP and the Horizon Europe project DC-POWER!

DC-POWER is pioneering a breakthrough medium-voltage DC distribution architecture designed to power industrial applications at the megawatt scale. By extending previous advancements in low-voltage DC grids into the medium-voltage range, the project aims to revolutionize local electricity distribution in industrial sites and buildings.

With its innovative ±1.5 kV bipolar MVDC grid, DC-POWER seeks to demonstrate:

⚡ ≥50% reduction in distribution energy losses
🔩 ≥50% reduction in copper usage
🛠️ ≥50% reduction in downtime
compared to traditional 400V three-phase AC systems—all while integrating local renewable energy generation and storage.

The system will be validated through two real-world pilots:
🏭 an industrial application and
💻 a data centre environment.

Through this synergy, FLAGCHIP and DC-POWER will work together to exchange knowledge, support innovation, and accelerate Europe’s transition to more efficient, reliable, and sustainable power distribution technologies.
