FLAGCHIP Partners Engage with the Power Electronics Community at PCIM Europe 2026

Several FLAGCHIP partners attended PCIM Europe 2026, one of the world’s leading exhibitions and conferences for power electronics, intelligent motion, renewable energy, and energy management. The event brought together researchers, industry leaders, and technology innovators to discuss the latest developments shaping the future of power electronics.

Among the key topics highlighted during this year’s conference was the growing demand for energy-efficient and reliable power electronic systems, driven in part by the rapid expansion of data centers and other high-power applications. Discussions explored advances in high-voltage and high-power electronics, including the development of Solid State Transformers (SSTs) and next-generation power conversion technologies capable of meeting increasingly demanding performance requirements.

A recurring theme throughout the event was the importance of reliability, health monitoring, and lifetime management of power electronic systems. As these technologies become critical enablers of the energy transition and digital infrastructure, stakeholders across the sector are placing greater emphasis on methods to monitor system health, predict degradation, and extend operational lifetime.

These priorities closely align with FLAGCHIP’s mission. The project is advancing innovative semiconductor technologies for higher blocking voltages while developing approaches for health monitoring and remaining useful life estimation. Together, these developments aim to improve both the efficiency and reliability of future high-power electronic systems.

PCIM Europe 2026 offered a valuable opportunity for FLAGCHIP partners to exchange knowledge, strengthen collaborations, and gain insights into emerging trends and challenges within the power electronics ecosystem. The discussions held throughout the event reaffirmed the growing importance of research and innovation in delivering the reliable, high-performance technologies needed for a more sustainable energy future.
